Itinerary: Lamagistère → Buzet-sur-Baïse

This 6-night canal cruise follows the peaceful Canal de Garonne through the heart of Gascony in southwest France.

Travel from Lamagistère to Buzet-sur-Baïse, passing vineyards, historic towns, and countryside landscapes. Along the way, enjoy guided excursions, local gastronomy, and relaxed cruising beneath the canal’s plane trees.

Day 1 — Lamagistère (Arrival & Welcome Cruise)

Guests board at the peaceful lock of Noubelins in Lamagistère.

After settling onboard Emma, enjoy a short sunset cruise through quiet countryside and farmland. The evening concludes with the first dinner onboard.

Day 2 — Auvillar (Hilltop Village Experience)

Travel to the hilltop village of Auvillar, listed among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.

Explore the circular market hall, discover its pottery heritage, and walk through the elegant village square. Enjoy panoramic views over the Garonne Valley and experience the historic atmosphere shaped by trade and pilgrimage.

Day 3 — Agen & Pont-Canal (Market & Aqueduct)

Cruise toward Agen, crossing the famous Pont-Canal aqueduct above the Garonne River.

In Agen’s town centre, visit the lively market known for local produce, cheeses, seasonal fruit, and the renowned Agen prunes. Free time is available before returning to the barge.

Day 4 — Nérac (Royal Heritage & Gastronomy)

Visit the historic town of Nérac, once home to King Henri IV.

Explore the Renaissance château and charming riverside streets. Enjoy a tasting lunch featuring regional cuisine before returning to the canal.

Day 5 — Flaran & Larressingle (History & Armagnac Tasting)

Discover the Abbaye de Flaran, a well-preserved Cistercian monastery.

Continue to Larressingle, a fortified medieval village surrounded by stone walls and towers. The day ends with a tasting of Armagnac or Floc de Gascogne at a local estate.

Day 6 — Buzet-sur-Baïse (Wine & Vineyards)

Arrive in the vineyards of Buzet-sur-Baïse.

Visit a local wine estate and enjoy a guided tasting of wines from the Buzet appellation. Spend the afternoon cycling along the canal or relaxing onboard before the farewell dinner.

Day 7 — Departure

After breakfast, guests disembark.

Transfers are available to Agen TGV station or other onward destinations.
